WE BEGIN WITHIN…
Starting Point was founded by Deborah Nixon-Karistinos. She understands that real detoxification comes from treating the body, mind and spirit. External beauty is reflected through internal health. She searched to find the best cleansing and relaxation treatments available and brought them to the Asheville, NC. area.

HOW WE GOT OUR NAME...
The name Starting Point was chosen because our center is your starting point on the path to health and wellness. Our center is a place for you to begin your journey by helping you to experience total body health.

OUR PAST LED US HERE...
Deborah’s mother had colon cancer after years of abdominal discomfort, bloating and distention. While her colon cancer went into remission for 7 years, she developed breast cancer and eventually died a year later of liver cancer. After this experience, Deborah learned first hand the importance of a well functioning colon and digestive system. This experience propelled her into the study of colon hydrotherapy and lymphatic therapy which has been her passion ever since.

After experiencing heavy metal poisoning from working in the medical manufacturing field, Andrew Karastinos learned the importance of physical detoxification. His personal path to recovery includes cleansing, collodials and colonics. His belief of and experience with the healing powers of the sea, led him to introduce the flotation tank at Starting Point.
